| Joan K. Peters
has published three books on the subject of women, work, and family. Co-authored with Betty
Carter, Love, Honor, and Negotiate: Making Your Marriage Work, (Pocket Books),
1996, and the highly acclaimed When Mothers Work: Loving Our Children Without
Sacrificing Our Selves (Addison Wesley), 1997; in paperback, Perseus Books, 1998.
She has just released her latest book, Not your mother's life: Changing
the rules of Work, Love and Family. Also the author of a novel, Manny and
Rose (St. Martins Press, 1985), she has taught womens studies, literature,
and writing at Middlebury College, The City College of New York, Rutgers University, and
Sarah Lawrence College.
Joan Peters holds a Ph.D. in
Comparative Literature from the University of Chicago. Peters lectures widely on the
subject of mothers working, equal parenting, balancing work and family, and women
revolutionizing the workplace. She has been a featured speaker at colleges, workplaces,
and conferences, including the Simmons Women and Leadership Conference, Atlanta
Womens Expo, Barnard College Alumnae, and "Women Transforming the Public,"
at University of California at Santa Barbara.
Her television appearances
include Good Morning America, The View, CNN and Company, NBC-Weekend News, MS-NBC, Fox
News. Most recently, she hosted a one hour special on Working Mothers for Connecticut
Public Television.
